Hello, we have added a handful of great artists in the last few months and wanted to share them with you. If you know anyone that is good with chickens and or pigs send them here.

Patricia Dumay

Patricia sent this great pig. Her English is better than my French..."Bonjour, Je suis francaise, je parle tres peu anglais,
voici mon cochon, il vient du livre de Marie-Hélène Lafond que je suis en train d'illustrer
"petit loup veut jouer au loup" (je cherche un éditeur).
à bientôt

Niki Maritz's Pig

Niki Maritz has sent a great picture of this pig sharing a sandwich. What a sweet, well-behaved pig. I also stumbled upon the 1 minute creature program and I will be doing my version of a chicken pig creature. This is one of Niki's http://inkjourney.com/2011/07/19/hectopus-hotdog-guzzler-this-weeks-1-minute-creature/

Niki can be found at a few places:

Go and check out her stuff!

Emma Cowley Cockerel

Hi Emma Cowley.

Emma Cowley is from London and her website can be found at www.emmacowley.co.uk. She has quite a few animals and she was kind enough to drop off this Gallic Rooster, which just happens to be the national bird of France.

Good work Emma!

Chicken Sign

Hey Hey, here is my chicken. Enjoy.

Monday, July 18, 2011

Heres to the next 9%.

I sent out all of the badges except Don's Coop. Soon Don. I am going to start a monthly newsletter and feature the artists who sent in their work. If you have an announcement, showing or working on a new project let me know. I also created a new ad on Facebook titled Send a Chicken, Send a Pig, Send Both. With a goal of 100 chickens and pigs, we are only 9% there. But, it has been a fun 9%!

We Don't Need No Stinkin Badges

Maybe not, but I like the idea of sending back a nice little button/badge to the artists kind enough to contribute to this project. Now, they (you) can share on your site the project that you are involved too. Interested in getting your own badge? Submit your chicken and pig and be one of the few to earn a limited edition version.

Each of the badges are numbered and can be linked both to this individual post and to the blog itself. Blue button if they send both a chicken and pig. The artist can choose their own color if they refer another artist who also sends in a chicken or pig.

Block Block Block

The first American entry comes from Don Somppi and his wood block. I am amazed at the level of detail on the eye placement and position. Nice job Don!
Don is short on a website, but he can be found here on Facebook.

Don has Degree in Art/Education from OSU. He has taught art at North Valley High School (Grants Pass, OR) in 1977. He has been producing Linocut prints since 1975 and to date carved over 400 blocks. Don, we are glad you did this one for sure. Thank you

Ad Free blog

This link popped up a few times with the idea of keeping blogs clutter free. The original image was an owl, but after persuading / asking Keri Smith the owner if a change could be made, it was quickly adapted to a cute little pig. Thank you Keri Smith and your site http://www.adfreeblog.org/.

And thank you cute little pig! It can be found to the right in the column, it is the only speaking pig there.

Denis Mohr's Black Chicken

I first emailed Denis and asked if this was a chicken and then thought about my preconceived ideas of chickens and pigs. I said to myself, "Josh pay attention this is an awesome chicken".

Thank you to Denis Mohr!

Check out the website of one Denis Mohr, very clever. http://denismohr.com/

Julia Humpfer The 2:07 AM Chicken

I love the term more better and here is some more better illustration from Germany. Her name is Julia Humpfer and she can be found at http://www.juliahumpfer.com/

The first email I see this morning came in at 2:07AM and this project is growing. Special thanks to each of our contributors so far and please check out their websites and blogs. There are some great artists out there and hopefully The Chicken and Pig book can capture the same spirit that these artists put in their everyday work.

Thank you Julia!

Pig Today

I can't possibly ask for others to send in their drawn chickens and pigs without first giving it a go. GO!

Artists Wanted

Submit your Chickens and Pigs to be added to The Chicken & Pig Book that will be published! A quick sketch, a black and white chicken or maybe a pink pig. Send them to thechickenpigbook@yahoo.com

Good morning

It is the second day of The Chicken & Pig Book. Two people liked the idea on Facebook (Tyra and Keisha). Now I just need to see who will be the first to submit their own chicken or pig. I am very excited!

The Chicken & Pig Book

The Chicken & Pig Book needs your help. Simply stated the Chicken & Pig Book is a compilation of images of drawn chickens and pigs. This is how you can help. Draw a chicken and pig and send it to me. Attach your name and contact information and your animal will grace hundred of other animals in a children's book aptly titled The Chicken & Pig Book. The lesson is that even though chickens and pig are different they are still chickens and pigs.
