Off Topic, But Cool

Please file this under cool. When you finish sending in your chickens and pigs stop by and see the fine folks at creaturemag.com and send in a 1 minute creature.

Niki Maritz's Pig

Niki Maritz has sent a great picture of this pig sharing a sandwich. What a sweet, well-behaved pig. I also stumbled upon the 1 minute creature program and I will be doing my version of a chicken pig creature. This is one of Niki's http://inkjourney.com/2011/07/19/hectopus-hotdog-guzzler-this-weeks-1-minute-creature/

Niki can be found at a few places:

Go and check out her stuff!

Emma Cowley Cockerel

Hi Emma Cowley.

Emma Cowley is from London and her website can be found at www.emmacowley.co.uk. She has quite a few animals and she was kind enough to drop off this Gallic Rooster, which just happens to be the national bird of France.

Good work Emma!

Heres to the next 9%.

I sent out all of the badges except Don's Coop. Soon Don. I am going to start a monthly newsletter and feature the artists who sent in their work. If you have an announcement, showing or working on a new project let me know. I also created a new ad on Facebook titled Send a Chicken, Send a Pig, Send Both. With a goal of 100 chickens and pigs, we are only 9% there. But, it has been a fun 9%!

We Don't Need No Stinkin Badges

Maybe not, but I like the idea of sending back a nice little button/badge to the artists kind enough to contribute to this project. Now, they (you) can share on your site the project that you are involved too. Interested in getting your own badge? Submit your chicken and pig and be one of the few to earn a limited edition version.

Each of the badges are numbered and can be linked both to this individual post and to the blog itself. Blue button if they send both a chicken and pig. The artist can choose their own color if they refer another artist who also sends in a chicken or pig.

Block Block Block

The first American entry comes from Don Somppi and his wood block. I am amazed at the level of detail on the eye placement and position. Nice job Don!
Don is short on a website, but he can be found here on Facebook.

Don has Degree in Art/Education from OSU. He has taught art at North Valley High School (Grants Pass, OR) in 1977. He has been producing Linocut prints since 1975 and to date carved over 400 blocks. Don, we are glad you did this one for sure. Thank you

Ad Free blog

This link popped up a few times with the idea of keeping blogs clutter free. The original image was an owl, but after persuading / asking Keri Smith the owner if a change could be made, it was quickly adapted to a cute little pig. Thank you Keri Smith and your site http://www.adfreeblog.org/.

And thank you cute little pig! It can be found to the right in the column, it is the only speaking pig there.
